The IAM is an ICT course that is recognised as a GCSE level qualification.  It focuses on practical rather than theoretical work and therefore the entire course is completed on the computer without the need for a written examination.

It is designed to build skills in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access not only for the course itself but for practical purpose across the curriculum.

There are three requirements:

  • The Structured Tasks (intensive but mostly not too hard and well supported)
  • The Exams (Greatly feared but short and simple)
  • The Coursework (Just hand in work done in other subjects)

The course is independent in nature and time can be spent completing it wherever and whenever you want.

It is also has the advantage of starting a year before the GCSE work in the other subjects, getting the bulk of the work completed early.
