Sense About Science is a great website: "Sense About Science is an independent charitable trust. We respond to the misrepresentation of science and scientific evidence on issues that matter to society, from scares about plastic bottles, fluoride and the MMR vaccine to controversies about genetic modification, stem cell research and radiation. We work with scientists and civic groups to promote evidence and scientific reasoning in public discussion.

There are some short videos at Planet-Scicast which are entertaining and (some of them) educational; then there is some weird and wonderful science at Ratlab which is now renamed ilovebacteria

Not so much science as Geography: look at the amazing maps comparing different counties at worldmapper: their sizes are distorted to match the data. A shocking place to start is HIV prevalence

On becoming greener: the UK Government's Eco-Schools scheme is worth a look

Sport Science at the University of Central Lancashire and muscle physiology; Word Turtle for wordsearches; tests and timers

There are good commercial sites out there, like Cosmetics Industry or pharmaceuticals.

Live web cams in Africa and elsewhere; the Fuchs Foundation and science in Antarctica

There is a fun RAF site which simulates running an RAF base and missions.

Planet Science the Science Year site and Sc1 the Royal Society site are interesting

Science Online Schoolscience (which is the ASE website) and Science Zone are good, Science Zone has Flash and QuickTime animations, and Noisenet  has lots of news and ideas on science and engineering, as well as good bits on sports technology

British Geological Survey and Ordnance Survey have lots to offer scientists as well as geographers

We are members of the Royal Institution. Also helpful is the senior science organisation in the UK, The Royal Society (and their schools site) and the British Association. Useful reports from the Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology

As for the paranormal, try visiting CSICOP, the James Randi Educational Foundation or the UK Skeptic magazine.

Magazine websites to visit include New Scientist, Science Daily, Bioscience Explained and Nature: in the Nature website most stories are subscription-only, but the biggest news is normally freely available, as are summaries of other items.

Other sites primarily for teachers are the Nuffield Curriculum Centre, the Science Enhancement Programme, and a fascinating report "Surely that's Banned" on what is banned on health and safety grounds in schools: the honest answer is, very little!
